Find organic, biodynamic and sustainable wineries with the Green Vine Wine Insider App. Wine lovers get points & rewards when they visit.
Seattle, WA … There are a million apps out there – and plenty that help you drink wine! The Green Vine Wine Insider is different. If you are looking for wineries that grow and make wine without using chemical herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, and additives, this app makes it easy to find what you are looking for in Washington and Oregon. The information comes from wine writer Shannon Borg’s book The Green Vine: A Guide to West Coast Organic, Biodynamic and Sustainable Wines, featuring more than 100 wineries that focus on green growing practices – and of course great tasting wine.
Points and Rewards: The Green Vine Wine Insider adds another element that makes it worth trying out this app. When people physically visit a winery on the app, they can click a “Get Points” button; and when they have visited a few wineries, those points add up to real savings. Users can then “Redeem Points” for rewards at participating wineries, such as a discounted tasting, a wine club special or percent-off purchase. As more wineries participate, the rewards opportunities will grow.
The Green Vine Wine Insider is a companion app to The Green Vine book, which has much more information about how sustainable wine is grown and made, how certain wineries are cutting down on “wine-miles” by the types of packaging they use, reducing their water and energy use, and finding ways to make great wine without the use of chemicals that are harmful to our bodies and our environment. The book clarifies the various certifications, such as Salmon-Safe, LIVE (Low Impact Viticulture and Enology), Carbon Neutral Challenge and other sustainable practices.
The “green” certifications process has exploded in the last few years, and the Green Vine was the first book to explain these labels in layman’s terms, making it easier to understand what you are drinking, and how to choose cleaner wines. Now, you can find these wines when you travel, too. So hop in your electric car and go wine touring! (With a designated driver, of course!)
Partnering with 468 Insider App Platform
The Green Vine Wine Insider is a collaboration between wine writer Shannon Borg, marketing coordinator for the San Juan Islands Visitors Bureau, and Tim Fry whose 468 Insider platform helps organizations engage their communities by rewarding exploration and commerce. Organizations use 468 Insider to create and maintain their own branded mobile apps to reward people for visiting places in the community. It has been used by communities around the Pacific Northwest, including the San Juan Islands, to inspire people to explore their communities and shop locally.
