Ellensburg Creates App to Reward Visitors and Residents for Seeking Out Area’s Hidden Treasures
Ellensburg, WA – April 2, 2018 – Today, the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce launched the free MyEllensburg Insider mobile app, which rewards users for visiting unique points of interest in and around Ellensburg, WA. Once people use the app to collect points at various destinations, they can redeem those points for rewards, including a free Ellensburg tote bag at the Ellensburg Visitor Center. The MyEllensburg Insider app was created using the 468 Insider platform from 468 Communications.
“The City of Ellensburg and the country surrounding it have so many hidden treasures, including a long list of outdoor recreation destinations that make Ellensburg great,” said Amy McGuffin, Director of Tourism at the Kittitas County Chamber. “The 468 Insider platform has allowed us to create an elegant app to showcase those places while creating incentives for both visitors and residents to explore Ellensburg.”
The MyEllensburg Insider app is both a wayfinding tool and a gamified way to reward people for exploring. The app’s Explore button takes users to the map of Ellensburg, which has pins indicating the location of the area’s unique points of interest. Clicking on each pin on the map gives more information about that place. Locations are assigned a point value. Pushing the “Collect Points” button while physically visiting a location will add the location’s points to a user’s point total.
At launch, points accumulated with MyEllensburg Insider can be redeemed for an Ellensburg tote bag at the Ellensburg Visitor Center at 609 N Main Street in downtown Ellensburg, which can be found using the app. Area businesses also have an opportunity to become Rewards locations in the app.
MyEllensburg Insider is available now as a free download on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. Ellensburg businesses interested in offering a reward to increase traffic to their place of business should contact Amy McGuffin at (509) 925-2002.
