Huron County Announces Taste of Huron App to Reward Food and Beverage Exploration
Free mobile app allows people to earn and redeem points when visiting participating restaurants, markets, breweries and wineries
Sept 27, 2021 – Huron County, Ontario – Today, Huron County announced the Taste of Huron mobile app that rewards people for exploring the county’s food and beverage experiences. The app, built using the EDCO Insider platform powered by 468 Communications, lets users earn and redeem points when visiting participating restaurants, markets, breweries and wineries.
“Huron County is home to some Ontario’s best food and beverage experiences, and we need a simple way to not only guide people to those offerings, but reward them for that discovery,” said Alex Ripley, Economic Development Officer for Huron County. “The EDCO Insider platform helps us create a great experience for visitors and promote local businesses, while generating valuable data to support long-term economic development for the county.”
To begin benefiting from Taste of Huron, anyone can download the app from the App Store or Google Play and create a Taste of Huron account. The app’s EXPLORE button takes users to the map of Huron County, which has pins indicating the location of participating restaurants, markets, breweries and wineries, where they can collect points upon physically visiting those locations.
Once users collect enough points, those points can be redeemed for goods or services at Taste of Huron Rewards locations, which are indicated in the app. Clicking the “REDEEM POINTS” button while physically at a Rewards location will bring up a keypad for entering a code provided by the place owner. This will deduct points from a user’s point total in exchange for a reward offered by that location.
The app is available now as a preview to County residents. This fall, Huron County will focus on adding more destinations to the map. The app will be marketed more broadly to out-of-county visitors in the spring of 2022.
